You can't always get what you want, but it looks like all the people who wanted to play as 'classic' Wario got what they wanted. Overalls Wario even has his own collection of alternate colors, most of them the same as Mario's (that's clever). However, those looking to this as a sign that all characters will be getting alternate costumes better read the whole thing again: "Everyone can change colors, of course. But Wario alone is special..."
