Dojo Updates: Pokemon Stadium 2 & Mario's Special Moves

Having a double-update day seems to be a regular thing now, and today's duo provides surprises galore.

The sequel to Melee's Pokemon Stadium, aptly named Pokemon Stadium 2, may seem exactly the same as it's predecessor, but it's got a whole slew of new transformations with even more effect on the fight than before.

There's a slippery Ice-Style(I SO CALLED IT WOOOOOOOO)

Ground-style, which is pretty similar to the Rock-style in Melee (with the exception that Dugtrio and Cubone now watch you in the background).

The odd Flying-style, where everyone gets a jump boost and Skarmory looks onward.

There's also apparently an Electric-style, but we didn't get a glimpse of that one. Sounds like it might be fun, though.

I guess the more things stay the same, the more they change.

The second update comes completely out of left field - Mario's Down Special has become F.L.U.D.D., which some people kinda wanted but NOBODY expected to actually be used.

F.L.U.D.D. does not cause any damage, but it can be charged up at any time ('even when your shielding', which is not only an interesting idea by itself, but the sentence confirms the return of shielding) and when fired causes enormous knockback. Basically, if you need to keep opponents away from something (you, an item, the stage...), this is your tool of choice.

Even weirder, it seems Mario still has his old Down Special. The last caption reads 'Is it a normal attack?' Well, is it? I think this MAY be hinting that characters will be getting a(nother) new type of attack in the game, which is definitely an interesting prospect.

Another interesting prospect: Since Mario has a new Down Special, that means Luigi (who is in the game no doubt about that) ALSO has a new Down Special. You wanted it? It's yours my friend.

Oh, by the way, nothing Brawl-related at the Nintendo meeting yesterday. It seems funny that they still haven't announced the Japanese release date, but whatcha gonna do, eh?
