Theories #3

Smash Bros. Dojo edition!

Okay, this week the Dojo had profiles for three characters (two 'Veteran Fighters', and one 'Newcomer'). I expect two characters to be revealed each week (one old and one new most likely), and maybe a few weeks where just one is profiled. By the time all the profiles for the known characters are done, it will be the end of June...right around E3. Thus, to coincide with a new video (and more returning character confirmations) at the Expo, Dojo will post a profile of one of those characters. After E3, the rest will trickle down.

We'll likely get at least one stage, one item, and one music sample/article per week.

How to Play articles will be posted for the first few weeks, and then go dormant for a while before they reveal more new techniques.

For the next month, the Game Modes section will be the least updated. We might get a new VS mode previewed, but nothing more. Since other modes like Classic require the starting lineup to be present, there likely won't be any info on those until after E3.

Notices will be posted at E3 in July, TGS in September, and E For All in October. Leipzig might also be there, but that's far less likely. Additional Notices will be posted when the new trailer comes out, and when the game itself releases.

For the stuff we could possibly know and speculate about, here's a prediction of what will posted each week:

May 28-June 1: Basic Controls, Kirby, Meta-Knight, Halberd
June 4-8: Special Attacks, Pikachu, Wario, Angel Land
June 11-15: A attacks, Fox, "Spaceship"
June 18-22: Defensive Maneuvers, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Mario Circuit
June 25-29: Possible new techniques, Snake, Shadow Moses

Yoshi's Island and the more-than-likely-a-Fire-Emblem stage will wait until their representative characters are confirmed. (Could this mean Marth is default this time around? To keep the starting lineup at an even number, I say possibly.)

Remember back on the old site, when Sakurai said that he wanted to have the music reflect a new 'atmosphere' for the game. What kind of atmosphere?

Well, on one of the first posts of the new site, Sakurai said this about the basic game:

"If you had to call it something, I'd say it's almost like a sport."

So it's quite possible that the new 'atmosphere' is making the game feel more like a sport competition. The Battlefield music also gives off that Olympic vibe.

We'll just have to wait and see.
